JF was involved in a works accident where he was employed as a hire consultant. He was walking past a security bollard that failed to retract in order to let a van drive past. He approached the bollard and attempted to push it down. While he was trying to solve the problem the van began to move towards the bollard and before he had a chance to move out of the way, the van hit the bollard and broke it off. The bollard flew into JF's left leg causing soft tissue injuries that required hospital treatment and resulted in several weeks away from work.
